«“The most important decisions a scholar makes are what problems to work
on,” Professor Tobin said. “Choosing them just by looking for gaps in
the literature is often not very productive and at worst divorces the
literature itself from problems that provide more important and
productive lines of inquiry. The best economists have taken their
subjects from the world around them."» in James Tobin (1918-2002)

Merit Ptah
"Merit Ptah (c. 2700 BCE), was possibly the first physician
in the world and the first woman in science to be known by name. Her
son, who was a High Priest, described her as "the Chief Physician". The IAU named the impact crater Merit Ptah on Venus after her." in Women in Science (probable image at blog page)

Expedition 40 - off the earth, for the earth
«The International Space Station Expedition 40
Crew Patch (see Expedition 40 (NASA) ) symbolizes the past, the present and the future of human
space flight in the form of the reliable and proven Soyuz that has been
flying since the 1960s, the International Space Station our present home
in space and the Dragon spacecraft that has a bright future in the
exploration of space.
"The ISS is the culmination of an enormous effort by many countries partnering to produce a first-class orbiting laboratory, and its image represents the current state of space exploration. The ISS is immensely significant to us as our home away from home and our oasis in the sky," the Expedition 40 crew wrote. "A blend of legacy and future technologies is being used to create the next spacecrafts which will carry humans from our planet to destinations beyond. The sun on Earth's horizon represents the new achievements and technologies that will come about due to our continued effort in space exploration."» in Expedition 40 (spaceflight101)

- Identify policy formulation and capacity development issues in which the UN system, in particular UN-Water and UN-Energy, can offer significant contributions
- Identify key stakeholders in the water-energy nexus and actively engaging them in further developing the water-energy linkages
- Contribute as relevant to the post-2015 discussions in relation to the water-energy nexus.

"A Tua-Minha Casa"
"De rosas era teu dia
o pessegueiro floria
os pássaros em revoada
vinham pousar no beiral
quando o sol iluminava
a roseira, o quintal.
Hoje, a tua-minha casa
nada tem de ti vazia
é roseira ressequida
raiz na rocha implantada
só pelo vento batida.
Saudade por não te ter
saudade por não te ver
só trazem águas salgadas
nos rios que correm nos montes
e brotam nas minhas fontes."

European Year against Food Waste 2014
About 90 million tonnes of food is wasted annually in Europe - agricultural food waste and fish discards not included.
About a third of the food for human consumption is wasted globally - around 1.3 billion tons per year, according to FAO;
Food waste in industrialized countries is as high as in developing countries:
- In developing countries, over 40% of food losses happen after harvest and during processing;
- In industrialised countries, over 40% occurs at retail and consumer level.
Food is wasted throughout the whole food chain – from farmers to consumers – and for various reasons.
